Venture builder — St. Gallen, Switzerland
We take on problems that matter, and solve them.
LabVentures finds problems that matter to people and aren’t properly solved yet. We build the solution, prove that it works and that people want it — then give it a life of its own.

How it works
From a problem to something that stands on its own.
We’re not tied to one sector. What connects the ventures is a principle: using technology intelligently for problems that matter to society.
-
1
Find a problem
We take on a problem when three things hold:
- it matters to people personally
- nobody has solved it well yet
- a solution would be clearly valuable
A business case is welcome, but it isn’t what decides.
-
2
Solve it and prove it
We build the solution and put it in front of real users until it’s clear that it works — and that people want it.
-
3
Pass it on
Spin-off. A product that can stand on its own becomes its own company. LabVentures stays a co-owner and partner, without running it day to day.
Licence or sale. When the solution is an invention rather than a product, it is licensed or sold.
Kept in the lab. Useful tools too small for a company of their own stay with LabVentures and remain available.
→ Returns from spin-offs and licences fund the next problem.
Ventures
Ten ventures, at every stage.
Garden Inspection App
Spun off
Seasonal parcel inspections for garden associations: checklist and photos on a phone, a report to each owner on the spot.
More about it
- Problem
- Garden associations inspected their parcels on paper, which made consistent feedback to every plot holder slow and laborious.
- Solution
- A mobile web app for on-site checklists and photos that sends each owner a clear report, and resets for every season.
- Status
- In use for real inspection seasons, and now a company of its own.

Nudget
Spin-off soon
Zero-based budgeting for young adults. Every franc gets a job, and the data stays on the phone.
More about it
- Problem
- Young adults rarely stick with budgeting: most apps record spending after the fact instead of changing the habits behind it.
- Solution
- An offline app for Android and iOS built on zero-based budgeting, savings goals and gentle nudges — no account, no cloud.
- Status
- App complete, waitlist open at nudget.ch; spin-off in preparation.

Doctor Watson
Spin-off soon
A calm task assistant for ADHD minds: three active tasks at a time, big ones broken into small steps.
More about it
- Problem
- People with ADHD lose track of tasks and stall on anything not broken into concrete steps — and long lists make it worse.
- Solution
- A calm assistant for Android and iOS: capture a task in seconds, keep only three active, break big ones into steps, get reminded at the right moment.
- Status
- Working and tested on Android; store release and spin-off in preparation.

igoto
Live
A short link for every traffic source, so you can see which channel actually drove each click.
More about it
- Problem
- Campaigns run across many channels, but it’s hard to tell which one actually brings the visitors.
- Solution
- One short link per source, all pointing to the same destination, with clicks compared side by side — and every link available as a print-ready QR code.
- Status
- Live at igoto.ch, open to anyone.

launCHF
Live
Plain-language bookkeeping for newly founded Swiss companies, running entirely on your own computer.
More about it
- Problem
- Founders of new Swiss companies face bookkeeping tools that assume accounting knowledge or require a cloud subscription.
- Solution
- A local desktop app that speaks plain language on top of correct Swiss double-entry accounting: QR-bills, bank reconciliation, payroll and year-end closing.
- Status
- Runs LabVentures’ own books; public download via launchf.ch.

QR Studio
Live
Custom QR codes with live preview, styling and export — a by-product of building igoto.
More about it
- Problem
- QR codes for print and campaigns should match their design — and making them shouldn’t require an online service.
- Solution
- A tool for custom QR codes with live preview, styling and export that runs entirely on your own computer.
- Status
- Live; created while building igoto and kept in the lab.
Vocab Wordle
Live
Wordle for vocabulary lists, with live class sessions and a shared leaderboard.
More about it
- Problem
- Practising vocabulary is repetitive, and it’s hard to get a whole class engaged at the same time.
- Solution
- Wordle with the teacher’s own word lists, played alone or in live class sessions with a join code and a shared leaderboard.
- Status
- Live at unisg.teaches.ch.

A history quiz: guess the year of an event. Teachers build quizzes on any topic.
More about it
- Problem
- Getting a feel for when historical events happened is hard to practise in class.
- Solution
- A quiz where players estimate the year of an event and score by how close they get; teachers build quizzes on any topic from Wikipedia and approve every question.
- Status
- Live at unisg.teaches.ch.

In development
Private AI that runs on your own hardware, for professionals bound by confidentiality — starting with lawyers.
More about it
- Problem
- Lawyers and other professionals bound by confidentiality can’t send client data to cloud AI services.
- Solution
- An AI assistant that runs entirely on the firm’s own hardware — starting with legal research, summaries and redaction under Swiss law.
- Status
- In development: a first version for solo lawyers in German-speaking Switzerland.
Greifbar
In development
Hands-on AI literacy training for teams and schools.
More about it
- Problem
- Companies in the EU must make sure their staff understand AI (EU AI Act, Art. 4) — and hands-on training in German is rare.
- Solution
- Interactive German-language modules where people try AI out for themselves, with a supervised test and a certificate.
- Status
- In development, starting with companies.
About LabVentures
An independent venture builder from St. Gallen.
LabVentures GmbH was founded in 2026 and is based in St. Gallen. A small team works on several ventures in parallel, from the first idea to the spin-off.
LabVentures exists for problems that matter to people but rarely get solved, because they don’t promise a quick return. Because we choose problems for their value rather than their business case, and fund the next one from what earlier ventures return, we can stay with a problem until it’s properly solved.
